Annotation

The article characterizes the sources for studying the history of the Orthodox Church and spiritual education. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of written sources reflecting the development of the Kostroma Theological Seminary over a long historical period. The main attention is paid to the study of the Orthodox periodicals, reflecting the charitable activities of the KDS in the late XIX - early. XX centuries. The research was carried out on the basis of the analysis of the content of the most famous periodical of that time - "Kostroma Diocesan Gazette", which came out in 1885-1917. A qualitative description of the activities of the charitable "Society for Aid to Needy Students in the Kostroma Theological Seminary" (1899-1917) has been carried out. The reports of the Society, published on the pages of this periodical, have been subjected to a thorough comparative analysis. They contain valuable factual and statistical data characterizing the peculiarities of the charitable activities of the theological seminary, the largest educational institution at that time. This article is one of the last scientific works of the author.
