This article provides an overview of convents which history clearly shows the difficulties the priesthood faced and what results it achieved when they coped with them. The appearance of these convents indicates that the thirst for God among Orthodox Christians occupies a central place in their lives. Today, these convents are the center of the spiritual life of the Brest diocese. A large number of pilgrims flock there, annual commemorative events and meetings are held there. Special attention is drawn to the people who lead these monastic communities. As a rule, they are charismatic, educated and, most importantly, spiritual personalities who have a rich worldly experience behind them. It is it that plays a key role in the care of both nuns and pilgrims. All these factors have a beneficial effect on the image of Orthodoxy both in the Brest diocese and in the entire Belarusian Orthodox Church.
