Annotation

The article examines the biography of the former abbot of the Russian Orthodox Church Moses (Matyukhin), who evaded schism by entering into communion with a marginal pseudo- catacomb group called the Russian Catacomb Church of True Orthodox Christians, known for its nationalist and political radical statements. A brief history of the emergence of this group and the participation of Moses (Matyukhin) in its activities is studied. Subsequently, having resigned his priesthood and monastic vows, the former cleric left for Ukraine, where he joined a nationalist military formation, as part of which he died dur ing the armed confrontation in the South-E ast of Ukraine in December 2017. The history of the former abbot clearly shows the fall which a person can take after he has deviated into schism and the saving church unity. The mention in the text of the article of the names of organizations and groups of a nationalist and other nature is carried out for informational, scientific, educational and educational purposes, and does not constitute their propaganda or justification of their activities.
