Annotation

In this article, the author reviews some of the postulates of the theory of «criticism of mimesis» by the American Biblical scholar Dennis Ronald McDonald. The author of the theory suggests that the authors of the Gospels, when writing the text could use significant parallels with classical Greco-Roman literature. The article also presents some aspects of criticism of the above- mentioned theory. In general, the critics’ position boils down to the fact that most of the parallels given are questionable or clearly strained.
