Annotation

The article examines the origins of the personality formation of the future outstanding physiologist A. A. Ukhtomsky. His social and religious activities as the elder of the St. Nicholas Church of the Same Faith in St. Petersburg reveal him to us as a religious philosopher and social thinker against the background of the religious and political upheavals of the first half of the 20th century. In the article, the author reveals the problem of introducing secular singing culture into liturgical singing and the importance of preserving the patristic tradition in the Old Believers.
