Annotation
Anti-monarchical and anti-religious views of the Russian liberal community, their sympathies for Western parliamentarism were one of the significant reasons for the col-lapse in 1917 of the powerful, prosperous and rapidly developing Russian Empire in technical and economic terms. The expected abolition of the monarchy did not bring the intelligentsia either freedom or material well-being. The article examines the post-revolutionary fate of intellectuals in Soviet Russia using the example of the life of one woman and her relatives, showing her return to faith in God after many decades of unbelief and His merciful percep-tion of a soul lost from youth on the verge of death.
