Annotation

Based on archival documents and new data, the article tells about the pedagogical talent of Marshal of the USSR Alexander Mikhailovich Vasilevsky, a graduate of the Kostroma Theological Seminary in 1915. The publication examines his administrative and pedagogical work at the Academy of the General Staff, as well as his relationship with Stalin, who can be called Alexander Mikhailovich's main student in the field of military strategy. The pedagogical milestones in the marshal's life are described in detail. In the summer of 1918, Vasilevsky worked as a general education instructor in the Kostroma province, teaching fellow countrymen military affairs. In the 1918/1919 academic year, he was a teacher at a rural school in Tula province (now the territory of Orel region). Then he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. The article reveals the respectful attitude of A. M. Vasilevsky to teaching work and shows the great importance that the marshal attached to the cause of education and upbringing of the younger generation. While working on the article, it was possible to establish the date of the change of the name of the future commander from Vasilyevsky to Vasilevsky. The author believes that this happened when Alexander Mikhailovich joined the Red Army at the end of April 1919.
